About Us

My name is Nicholas Taylor and I am the proprietor of Focal Architecture. After studying Urban Anthropology in Canada (BA 1975), I came to London to take up a course in Architecture. I have a BSc in Architecture from London Metropolitan University, my RIBA (Part I) and have been working in the architectural profession since 1988.

My career has included employment with a variety of practices both modern and more traditional and I recently worked for Richard Griffiths Architects- a very well regarded conservation practice.

Focal Architecture evolved out of Architectural Drawing & Design Limited (ADD) which had been trading successfully since Dec 1999. ADD continues as a vehicle for my work as a freelance architectural technician which I use when working under contract with other Architects. The name, however, did not adequately reflect my work as an independent Architectural Designer, hence the creation of Focal Architecture in 2007.

My design work consists of a variety of projects including extensions and refurbishments throughout North London (Hampstead, Highgate, Stoke Newington and Muswell Hill). There have also been projects in Italy including our own house in Sardinia.
